Sir Lancelot

OMG! This weekend has been so much fun. It has been a little lazy, yes, but productive as well! Yesterday, We went to Alice day, which was so completely cute! We (Jackie, Jessica and I) all saw this couple that she was dressed up as Alice and he was dressed up as the white rabbit, complete with the cotton tail on the back of his jeans! It was too cute! Then we went exploring into the far corners of Oxford, which we haven't quite reached yet. That was exhilarating! We went shopping at this dress store. BEAUTIFUL dresses! Jackie made me try on this one dress that was soooo pretty, but it was ridiculously expensive, even with the 75% discount! Jessica bought a lovely new dress, though, and she is wearing it to formal dinner on Tuesday! She looks so pretty and elegant in it! :-)
We also went up in the tower of St. Mary's cathedral. Fun fact: This church was a refuge for Lutherans from Germany and they began to have a German traditional church service there and still have it on a regular basis. I'm a bit biased, but that sounded awesome to me! We also ducked into this little college that appeared out no where to us. We followed the courtyards, and it was like a maze with ELEGANT BEAUTIFUL gardens. At the end of the maze, we discovered a hallway...and in this hallway were bookshelves lining the hallway as the walls. On the shelves were first editions dating back to Queen Elizabeth's I reign! I felt as though I had died and gone to Heaven!! It was BEAUTIFUL! The books were so pretty with the leather binding and the book smell....so- *there are no words to describe*
Then, we came back and went out to dinner in a large group. That was entertaining! We ate at a different local pub (like we do almost every night! ha!) It had pretty good fish and chips. Once we came back, though, we started playing Texas hold 'em and other fun games. One of the guys from the Texas seminary group, Daniel, taught us how to play real Texas hold 'em. That was fun. We stayed up pretty late and he caught a 6 am bus to go to Scotland! (That I am quite jealous of, because I have run out of time to see St. Andrew's! ha!)
This morning, I was supposed to go to Bath- but I get up about 7:30am or 8am and go until about 1 0r 2 am every night....so I crashed hard last night....and consequently got up too late to go to Bath. Apparently there is only ONE bus out there and back a day. Going there at 9:50am and returning about 4:55pm. Now, I know! I think I'm going to Bath on August 1! (the day after my birthday!) So, today, I did alot of schoolwork. I also ended up falling out of my window. (Don't worry I'm on the bottom floor, so I don't have a long way to fall. I just slipped while drying my laundry so my jeans wouldn't shrink....and the rose bush beneath my window caught me. I think with another healthy dose of Neosporin my leg will be back to normal. I think the klutz gene runs in the family.....I finished my reading for History today. I finished my blog post for London! (That was a major several hour feat!) I also am pretty far along on my blog for the Hobbit, but not completely there yet. I really want to meet with my professor to see if I'm writing according to her standards. She is a lovely professor! My general wish: They taught awesome classes like this at Emory! This is the kinda stuff I LOVE! :-) (I'm such a geek!) My history books were fascinating....I delved more into the Love Story between Clemmie and Winston.....so sweet! I greatly respect her as an independent thinker and her ability to love such a quirky man. Then again, we all have our quirks! We went to dinner at the Eagle & Child tonight. That was fun! They make excellent fish and chips! (yes, it was a repeat, but I'm afraid to get anything else after my episode with Bangers & Mash.....well, I will just have to branch out next time!) They really do make the best Pimm's & Lemonade! (My favorite drink!)
Now it is 2:37am and I have breakfast beginning at 8am, so I must get some sleep. A whole bunch of us are meeting for High Tea at 11:00 am. I am so excited! Sir Lancelot will be there! (One of my friends is named Lance and I endearingly call him Lancelot, because he is just that awesome!) I will edit this post later and post some pictures of the view from St. Mary's because it was breathtakingly pretty! :-) I highly recommend the 3 pounds and the death defying stairways that you must conquer in order to see this lovely view. I don't think anyone fell on the way up or down, but if they did, it would have been merely a flesh wound :-)

Cheers from Oxford!
J.
